When you’re newly married, strangers sometimes look at you and say, “Awww…you look like newlyweds.” When people said that to us I never really understood how they figured it out so quickly. I thought we acted and looked the same as before, so I was always puzzled as to HOW people could sense that we were newly married.
Then this weekend when I met up with Shireen and Arif, I saw it. I can think of several ways to describe the newlywed-look, but it’s so much more than cutesy adjectives. There are glances, the ones that make you block out the rest of the world even in a crowded park. The goofy faces just to put a smile on the other person’s face. And it’s all punctuated with the underlying feeling of security…a feeling of being grounded.
Along with the newlyweds, their siblings Dipty and Saud also joined us at the park that day.
All 4 of you deserve a medal of honor just for laughing through the 100+ degree heat on that humid Atlanta afternoon! Thank you so much for walking around the park with me this weekend. Next time you guys are in town, I’ll bring the ice-cream…and it’ll be Magnum!
